‘Word to the Art’ Fuels Inspiration Through Art Inspired by Words

If words are visual and embracing, Tamiko Hope is the perfect advocate. Her latest venture, “Word to the Art,” is a pursuit that brings the art world into the literary, but that’s not unusual or unique. What is unique is her passion, commitment, foresight and collaboration with local artists to make the journey accessible. This particular Tamiko Hope production at the Habanos Cigar Lounge in Castleberry hill area OF Atlanta, is an actual art show designed to elevate the levels of the two genres.

You may feel the venue, a cigar lounge, is an odd place to hold such an installment. However, Habanaos features art throughout the room and is a relaxed atmosphere that holds no pretentions. It also is convenient because Tamiko is a cigar-aficionado.

Tamiko will be the first to tell you she cannot draw, but you’ll be the first person to know she can write. Been doing so in the music and entertainment industry for over 15-years. With artist interactions such as Usher, Que, Janelle Monae, OutKast, and a long list of others. You read some of the articles she’s written for publications like Upscale, Rolling Out, , and websites Allhiphop and MTV. Her mentorship involvement earned her a Divine Diva Golden Achievement Award at the Minority Mentorship Symposium in Austin, Texas alongside honorees Letoya Luckett and Eve. But this is only part of who this vibrant and determined woman is. She is truly a professional embracing her unique gift for writing by enriching our lives, making “Word to the Art” her latest offering.

It’s a simple concept she posed to her hand-picked artists: Create your vision of a word or phrase assigned. The results are phenomenal, featuring works by Ryan Pompeii @POMPEIIARTS, Michelle Kee @MKEEDESIGNZ, CJ Peters @KINGSOULKKZ, and Miloh Smith @MILOSMITH. All this would not be possible without a venue so shout out to Michael Paul, owner/Habano Cigar Lounge @HABANOCIGARLOUNGE.

This is serious, important work that must be seen. Make your way over to the “Word to the Art” installation and you will be glad you did.
